Our weekly-ish roundup of things we watched, thought about, and did this week

On the Site:

We had a new podcast episode out this week with Paul and Howard on air quality and longevity. Be sure to subscribe to the Simplavida podcast on your favorite streaming platform. Or on your least favorite one. But either way, subscribe.

We also had new post up about "enough" fitness and how you know when you're there. Spoiler: It doesn't take that much work to get there.

Podcasts:

A few things Paul listened to this week while running:

  • Slime moulds (BBC)
  • The history of revolutionary ideas: Humanism (PPF)
  • The screens between us (The Gray Area)
  • How algorithms make people, places, and ideas boring (Two Percent)

Books:

Paul is in the middle of Jeff VanderMeer's Annihilation, as he tries to read a little more scifi. Current AI has ruined most space travel scifi, given that it's obvious it wouldn't be humans floating about in space, so I'm trying a little more of the earth-bound variant.

Music:

The five most recent tracks Paul listened to, mostly running, according to StatsforSpotify. Note: I have terrible taste.

  • ivy – Taylor Swift
  • To Be Alone With You – Sufjan Stevens
  • Never Going Back Again (2004 Remaster) – Fleetwood Mac
  • Portland, Maine – Donovan Woods
  • New Perspective – Noah Kahan

Gear:

As we said last week, Paul is experimenting with new running shirts. While he usually wears Patagonia capilene shirts, which breath well, dry fast, and don't look gross when sweaty, he is trying out a Vuori trail shirt. It is much nicer looking and fits well, if a little heavy. The biggest issue is it develops massive perspiration stain very fast when running, a perennial problem for Paul, and it doesn't dry out quick. I'm torn, so perhaps it will be more of a cold weather shirt for me.

Back next week with more updates and insights.
